Aine Scannell

B.A.Hons, Fine Art,     M.F.A.European,   M.A. Printmaking

I am a figurative artist working in fine arts printmaking – creating art work concerned with nature of human relations, be that to one another, to themselves and to their environment often through a mytho-poetic prism.

I make all sorts of two-dimensional works on paper from miniature 10 x 8 cm prints through to large triptychs such as “Sacrifice” 123 x 158 cm.

I sometimes make print installations using e.g., L.E.D. lights, cobwebs and plaster casts.  I sometimes make three-dimensional print making based objects such as house forms.  Fundamentally though it has to be said that the reason I like to work in the realm of “printmaking” is because of it’s inherent mark making characteristics.  It’s an ongoing dialog with the materials and processes of original printmaking that I find so interesting………… and there are always more possibilities.  Although I have created many print editions I tend to make one off unique artworks.
